These are the most amazing donuts. When we lived in Austin and a majority of our life was spent in Round Rock. Dave's office was across the highway from Round Rock Donuts so he did gain a little weight with them in his backyard. :) These donuts are literally world famous. How To Make Bacon Candy [Pig Candy] | Cooking With Kat
Bacon! I mean BACON! Boy, God sure did good when he made pork. A while back, we shot sever shows with Cali Lewis where we focused on exotic bacon recipes. Not TOO exotic, but surely not regular. One of the best ones we did was Bacon Candy, (sometimes called "Pig Candy"). This simple dish was a huge hit that weekend, we ate LOTS of it. We also cooked up some Bacon Cookies and Chicken Fried Bacon. The recipes we shot were jumbled together throughout the day. We'd work on one part, then while it cooked, work on something else. The rhythm of this episode may feel a little off, it's only because we had to pull from several different time-frames over two days of shooting. We hope you enjoy!

How To Make Chocolate Jubilee Cookies | Cooking With Kat (SD)
I found this recipe in one of my cooking magazines and thought that this would be absolutely perfect for Valentine's Day. Ingredients: 1 cup butter, softened1 cup Shortening2 cups packed brown sugar1 cup sugar4 eggs2 to 3 tablespoons almond extract4 cups all-purpose flour1 cup quick-cooking oats1 cup baking cocoa2 teaspoons baking soda2 teaspoons salt3 cups (18 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips1 jar (16 ounces) maraschino cherries, drained and chopped1 cup sliced almonds, optional Directions: In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at the time, beating well after each addition. Add extract. In another bowl, combine the flour, oats, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Mix about just a little.Gradually add to the wet mixture and mix well. Fold in chocolate chips, cherries and almonds.Roll into 1-1/2 inch balls and place 3 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 12-14 minutes or until the edges are firm. Remove to wire rack to cool. EAT TILL YOU DROP!

How To Make Sweet Potato Casserole
This recipe was given to my grandmother, Peaches Smith, by a dear friend of hers. The more she made it, the more she "tweeked" it...making it better and better all the time. It was, by far, my most favorite dish at Thanksgiving and will continue to be my favorite until I die! This recipe is so super easy...and is so rewarding!! Ingredients: 3 Cups mashed sweet potatoes2 eggs, beaten1 ¼ Cup Sugar¼ Cup Flour1 Large can evaporated milk1 ½ stick melted margarine Mix all ingredients together and put into a greased 9x13” pan. Topping: 1 Cup crushed cornflakes or 1 Cup Rice Krispies½ Cup brown sugar½ Cup chopped pecans½ Cup coconut Mix together and spread over top of potatoes. How to Make Home Made Granola - Fixed
Kat originally received this recipe from my friend, Jennifer Smith, who got it from The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook (1999). I took it and ran with it...adding a few things of my own to make it even better! This is a GREAT recipe that's good for breakfast (with milk), snacking, topping for yogurt/ice cream, or whatever else you can think of!! Ingredients: 3 cups regular oats, uncooked (don't use the Quick Oats) 1/2 cup flaked coconut 1/2 cup sliced almonds 1/2 cup chopped or halved pecans 1/2 cup walnuts 1/2 cup pine nuts 1/4 cup honey-crunch wheat germ 1/4 cup sunflower kernels 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons honey (local honey is best) 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 1/2 tablespoons water 2 tablespoons brown sugar 3/4 - 1 teaspoon good vanilla (I use Mexican vanilla) 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 - 1 teaspoon Cinnamon 1 cup dried cranberries (and/or raisins) Directions: Combine oats, coconut, almonds, pecans, walnuts, pine nuts, wheat germ and sunflower kernels together and mix well. In a separate bowl, combine honey, water, vegetable oil, brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon and mix well. Pour over oats and nuts and stir until well incorporated. Do not add dried fruit or candies until the mixture is cool. Pour in a jelly roll pan (15x10 inch) and spread evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Open oven and slide out pan and stir mixture - then respread evenly and continue to bake for 5 minutes or until granola is golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool completely. Add dried blueberries, cranberries, raisins, or even banana chips, or any other dried fruits. Eat by itself or with milk for a great cereal. Top your favorite ice cream or vanilla yogurt! YUMMY!! Recently, one of our dear cyber-friends came down from Indiana for a visit. Martha Garrett has been one of the biggest supporters of Cooking With Kat as well as of our family. While we’ve only known her for a little over a year, and never met in real life (until now), we count her as a surrogate family member. She’s always there with encouragement, love and prayer. When we found out that our dear friends from Geekbrief.tv, Cali and Neal were bringing her down for a week-long visit, we knew we’d have to do a show with her. Originally titled "Breanna’s BEST Chicken Tenders", Martha came up with this dinner idea that has turned out to be a huge hit in her neighborhood, and now, in our house.
