The Good Beer Show

After a long hiatus we are recording shows once more. Mikey Mason sings three new songs and we sample five beers from The Bruery. It feels good to do this again.

On the last half of the show we sample three meads from New Day Meadery. It is the only meadery in Indiana.

Our special guest on this show is Jacob. He actually turned 21 the day this episode was recorded and Bonus Beer Bob made sure it was a show not easily forgotten.

Bonus Beer Bob flew to California and hung out at the best breweries the west coast has to offer.

We were joined on this show by Jennifer Litz, a twitter friend, who is writing a book about turning into her mother.

Three beer podcasts come together for one big show.

It was Bonus Beer Bob's Birthday but he brought all the gifts.

Kevin Cox, our traveling beer expert, invited the show to his birthday party. I waltzed in and set up my equipment learning that most of the cast have already been there for awhile drinking 3 liter bottles of Chimay Grand Reserve

Then Bonus Beer Bob whips out two of the most sought after Imperial Stouts, namely Surly Darkness and Portsmouth Kate The Great Russian Imperial Stout.

We start season five with a couple of GBS alumni that have not been on the show for a long time.

I do not even know your kids. It's the title of Mikey Mason's new song.

Show 166 featured the band, "State" from Indianapolis.

Bonus Beer Bob outdone his self on this show. We sampled 8 different beers from Struise Brouwers, regarded by many as the best brewery in the world.

Now for the fun part of this show. We sat down with Jon Lang of Barley Island and Dave Colt of The Ram (Indianapolis) who between them, won every medal at the GABF in the No.16 Wood- and Barrel-Aged Beer category. We sampled Beastie Barrel Stout (bronze), Buffalo Bock (silver) and Old Jack (gold). We also tried a Pro-Am beer called "Single White Friar" which Jon Lang and Mark Schiess created.

This episode's featured artist is Gabe Vitek from "Gabe Vitek and the Ivory". He stopped in before he performed in Muncie later that evening. Gabe has a new album called "Voices" that was released October 16th. Look for it at his site and Itunes.
