This podcast is the long awaited interview with Vim Toutenhoofd, about Python on Nokia phones, Meego, QT, and and his app for hang gliding and sailplanes. At 75 years old, Vim was born in the Netherlands, earned his PhD in Physics in Australia, was a long time research scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder Colorado, where he specialized in piloting sailplanes into the heart of thunderstorms for the sake of scientific data collection and analysis, and is now an active hang glider in the Oregon mountains.

This podcast is an interview and wide-ranging discussion with John Graves about his Open Allure open source project, a web based educational tool written in Python with a fascinating user interface utilizing gestures, voice recognition, and text to speech. Open Allure is his PhD project in New Zealand and John is heading to silicon valley this summer as an intern at Ray Kurzweil's Singularity University. He is a man of many interests and the wide ranging discussion hits on many Pythonic topics, the philosophy of open source, key technological tipping points, and much more. I have been delinquent in producing podcasts lately but this is a good one. John has a lot to say on many topics covered in previous Python411 podcasts.

I welcome "A Little Bit of Python", a great new Pythonic Podcast. PyCon is in full swing and Unladen Swallow has been accepted into Python 3. Python411 takes off in a bit of a new direction. Hear it here first ;-)).

Sikuli is the coolest Python project I have ever seen in my ten year hobbyist career. An MIT oepn source project, Sikuli use Python to automate GUI tasks (in any GUI or GUI baed app that runs the JVM) by simply drag and dropping GUI elements into Python scripts as function arguments.

Epiphany: The User Interface is the Programming Language, and the programming language is the user inerface. In the next 5-10 years, the Operating System of the future will take shape. Epiphany: it will be mobile and wearable.
