The official podcast of silentrunning.tv, the Anglospheric group blog with writers in the US, Australia and New Zealand. SNN is a weekly global roundup of news through the eyes of the right-leaning political blogosphere, with two feature interviews in each episode. Shire Network News takes an international viewpoint, but not always a completely serious one, talking to bloggers and opinion leaders around the world, not just in the United States. Finally, a chance to hear what your favourite bloggers actually sound like.

Podcast Implodes

I'm afraid we have some bad news. For reasons which are detailed in the podcast, this is probably the final Shire Network News, certainly at least in it's current format. We seem to have gotten ourselves smack-dab in the middle of the Blog Civil War that's going on, and we managed to get ourselves ripped apart by the gravitational forces. Yes, yes, we TRIED reversing the polarity through the deflector array, didn't work. In part, the reason why "Brian of London" and "Tom Paine" in Australia have come to truce and treaty and the parting of the ways is the subject of this weeks special and probably last feature interview. It's with Filip Dewinter, leader of the Valaams Belang, the Flemish nationalist party in Belgium. As many of you already know, there has been a great disturbance in the Blog recently over the counter-Jihad movement cooperating with the VB and other European parties with questionable antecedents, such as the Swedish Democrats. Shire Network News was offered the chance to put the tough questions to the man himself. And so, like idiots, we did. And then...well, listen for yourselves. For myself, "Tom Paine", now that we seem to be in the Blogosphere equivalent of the week that Fort Sumter was fired upon, I reckon on lighting out for the territories for a spell, I figure I'll be back when this has all blown over. And I'm sure all of us wish Brian of London great success with his family in their new country. And perhaps it might be worth remembering that there's a real enemy out there, and it's not each other, m'kay?

Podcast Tired and Emotional ... or Attacked by Conservatives

This week sees us talking again to two free thinkers who have rejected the teachings of Muhammad and chosen another path. Adil Zeshan and Sheila are concluding their conversation with Tom about what it is like to move away from Islam and face, at best, disapproval and, at worst, death threats from ones own community and family. You can find Part One here. Adil Zeshan has also recently written an interesting article in the New English Review: Once Upon a Time in the West (Midlands). In Blog News this week we cover the truly astonishing tale of the Amsterdam police station, the Islamic terrorist and the big knife. I had thought that western society put a particularly high price on the life of policemen and women so it is astonishing that this story received no attention in the wider European press. For a blog view go to Klein Verzet: Suicide attack in Amsterdam. Benazir Bhutto returns to Pakistan and somebody kills 123 people while trying to get her. Surprised? No, unfortunately neither are we. The Belmont Club has more. The Religion of Peace website has the numbers of Muslims killed by Muslims during Ramadan this year. Once again, Islam puts up big Ramadan numbers: 1,327 dead bodies in 282 terror attacks in 20 countries during its holiest month. Congratulations to the Religion of Peace! The stories of talk show host Randi Rhodes either being attacked by Conservatives or falling down and meeting her new dentist, Dr Sidewalk are all over the blogs. Have a look at LGF for example. YouTube - Flying Imam Class Action Lawsuit Damian Penny is back and has sent in some links to go with his commentary: crazy Alex Jones rant - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQhX4VIYi9c Alex Jones's Endgame - http://www.endgamethemovie.com MUCJA - http://www.mucja.net Kevin Barrett's death threats - http://www.randi.org/forumlive/showpost.php?p=3064027&a mp;postcount=16 Barrett vs. Amy Goodman - http://www.mujca.com/amy.htm Where They Live - http://www.wheretheylive.org ------------- If you enjoy this podcast, why not share it with your friends? Podcast upholds the apostates' right not to be murdered

This week we talk to two free-thinkers. One is from the UK and the other from the USA and both are trying hard not to be defined by the religion they were born into and have subsequently rejected. Shire Network News senior religious affairs correspondent Tom Paine speaks to two ex-Muslims - Sheila (not her real name for reasons which are probably obviuous) who lives in the United States, and Adil Zeshan from the United Kingdom. They talk about why they left, and why the fear the reaction from their former compatriots. This week we also talk about the Spectator sponsored debate: We should not be reluctant to assert the superiority of Western values. You can find full details an a link to a recording at the Spectator's website. The blogs are alive with stuff about Al Gore's Nobel Peace Prize. Hitting Metal With Hammer is just one link to look at. The Egyptian Sandmonkey has a post looking at a Pharonic Temple buried under a Mosque. What a surprise: Pharaonic Temple found inside Luxor Mosque Ann Coulter is an Idot. It's just true. See every blog for more details. Doug Payton is ripping into socialists. ------------- If you enjoy this podcast, why not share it with your friends? Podcast looks at the second draft of the Al-Durrah film

The show this week is anchored from Melbourne rather than London, in yet another sign that those uppity colonials think they're just as good as the Mother Country. Hmph! "Brian of London" has the week off to do something nefarious, which he will tell us all about in due course. In the meantime, Shire Network News senior French judicial correspondent "Tom Paine" speaks to blogger and media analyst Richard Landes, about the latest developments in the Mohammed Al-Durrah case. The photograph and film of a Palestinian boy apparently being shot dead in his father's arms by Israeli troops was used to fan the flames of hatred around the world, but was it real or staged? Why won't the French TV channel release the raw footage? Listen to Richard Landes and find out why this is such a critical test of media accountability. In Blog News, we find ourselves sceptical about the message on the side of a London double-decker bus; cynical about the reasons why Iran's president insists there are no homosexuals in his country, at least not after treatment like this; and just plain depressed at the United Nations deciding to offer the repressed Burmese people all assistance short of actual help. For blogger coverage of the major non-humorous events currently underway in Burma go here. Remember the last Star Trek series, "Enterprise" with it's Temporal Cold War, in which history itself was a battlefield to be altered at will by the competing factions? Bad news, it's actually happening in Britain. Turns out you don't need a time machine to change the past. Just a publisher and a large, Orwellian-sounding government bureacracy. Meryl Yourish is here to take a look at Feminism's impact in the Muslim world, as is Doug Payton, who enthusiastically agrees with Presedential candidate John Edwards, al least in his self-assesment that he (John Edwards) is not God. ------------- If you enjoy this podcast, why not share it with your friends? Podcast is looking at a graphic novel

This week we're talking to graphic novelist, Bosch Fawstin. He speaks here to Shire Network News's deputy-assistant under manger with responsibility for graphic novels, cartoon and illustrations, "Tom Paine" about why he's decided to tackle the enemy head on. This interview was recorded on September 11th, at just about exactly the time the two towers were hit. Just so you know. You can find his website and order his previous graphic novel, "Table for One" at this website: BoschFawstin.com. In Blog News this week we consider Israel declaring Gazza an enemy entity.  My Pet Jawa is a good place to start. Tim Blair's blog has a good summation of the Bush declares Mandela dead nonsense. The song, "They tried to make me go to Jihad" can be found in a few places. Here is one of them. In my editorial piece I mention Hugh Fitzgerald. I can't recommend everything he writes more highly. You can find his frequent blog postings at New English Review. Some of these also show up on Jihad Watch. I especially recommend everyone to read and forward to all they know the following article: Stop the Jizyah. We have contributions from regulars Damian Penny and Doug Payton. Be sure to visit their blogs. BTW we're saving up so we can pay for a full page add in the New York Times. We're not sure how much it will cost, we're waiting for them to get back to us with a quote. Please give generously. ------- If you enjoy this podcast, why not share it with your friends? Podcast speaks to a gentleman from The Times: Andrew Norfolk

This week's star guest is UK journalist for The Times (the London one). Andrew Norfolk has just finished a nine month assignment to get to the bottom of just who is running the mosques in Britain. It turns out the answer is that 40% or so may not be so moderate after all. Andrew speaks to Shire Network News about what he found out, who he interviewed and who wouldn't speak to him. Its a great interview, even though we do say so ourselves. You can find much of Andrew Norfolk's work at The Times. The article "Hardline Takeover of British Mosques" was the front page banner headline that broke the story and is a good place to start. To play the episode either look to the right of the screen for a player or scroll down to the bottom of the post for a direct link to the MP3 file. You can also subscribe via iTunes from the link to the right. In Blog News this week we react with surprise to the "scientific" finding that conservative brains are different from left wing brains. Knock yourself out at the LA Times. The Slate reaction to this (forgive us) is here. The UN's report on just how rosy the future is can be found here. The Brussels Journal report on the put down of a demonstration against the Islamisation of Europe can be found here. ------ If you enjoy this podcast, why not share it with your friends? Podcast visits the OC kids and discovers some unpleasant facts

Reut Cohen joins us on Shire Network News talking about anti-Semitism at the UC Irvine in California. The situation is so bad that she says students are leaving the University for places at other campuses. You can find out more about her from her blog. They also mention the David Project. For more on the Islamo-Fascism awareness week form the Terrorism Awareness Project, follow this link. In Blog News this week I talk about the IDF's raid on Gaza: did they drive a Subaru or a Donkey. You decide. The petition to get France 2 to release the Mohammed al-Dura tapes can be found here. Jules Crittenden writes about the Rock Garden Press Conference. We came to this via Theo Spark's blog. We have contributions from regulars Meryl Yourish and Doug Payton. Be sure to visit their blogs.
