The Bob and Rob Show's 3rd lesson. We talked more about greetings, and had a special guest on the show, our co-worker Cliff. Greetings: What's up? Vocabulary TGIF (Thank God it's Friday) tonic or soda The Bob and Rob Show's second lesson! We talked more about greetings, as well as Washington State, the area where I'm from. We also introduced our Both Sides of the Pond segment, a comparision of British and American synonyms. Greetings: How's it going? How ya doing? How ya keeping? Both Sides of the Pond braces/suspenders garter belt/suspenders drugstrore/chemist The Bob and Rob Show's first lesson! We talked about our first names, U.K. geography and greetings that are used when meeting someone for the first time. We also gave examples of American and British words that refer to the same thing. Our names: The name 'Robert' is English; 'Roberto' is Italian or Spanish. 'Robert' can be shortened to 'Rob' or 'Bob'; 'Robbie/Robby' and 'Bobby/Bobbie' also come from 'Robert'. Greetings: A: Nice to meet you. B: Nice to meet you, too. OR A: How do you do? B: How do you do? American/British equivalents: apartment/flat truck/lorry shopping cart/trolley elevator/lift underwear/pants On this show we talked about family. Our special guest was from Australia. Family vocabulary father/mother dad/mom brother/sister uncle/a unt nephew/niece father-in-law/mother-in-law brother-in -law/sister-in-law cousin Other vocabulary allergy/allergies Example: I have an allergy to mold. / I'm allergic to cats. I wish they had a TV show. This podcast could be also in the Comedy category. This is a weekly podcast and I wonder why there are only 3 links to old shows on this page. Submitted By: dmitreyg@... We especially like the "both sides of the pond" section because she has been an AuPair in the US and I myself spent 9 months looking after kids in the UK.
