If personal attacks work for you .....I'm too bored to bother.

The fact I feel embarrassed for you is NOT a personal attack of any kind... because I really DO feel embarrassed for you...

I mean, why wouldn't I?

Have you actually read your original comments, the subsequent explanation and the follow ups…

It IS embarrassing – I don’t know what else you expect me to say?

As author of ‘Land of the Free?’, I would like to thank all those who have e-mailed and posted messages in order to contribute to this ongoing debate. I am particularly heartened by the overwhelmingly constructive and civilized atmosphere in which the debate is taking place. Oh that the warring parties on all sides were willing to do the same!

If truth is the first casualty of war, then free speech is undoubtedly the second. In times of war people feel duty bound to support their country, no matter how much they may disagree with what their Government is doing in their name. And so they often stay silent – for fear of being branded unpatriotic. This self-censorship thankfully does not come easily to the podcasting community.

Of all the views expressed to date, even those which are diametrically opposed and apparently irreconcilable, the authors of these views DO have one important thing in common. They all want peace. Whatever our creed or religion, let’s pray for peace in Lebanon, Iraq and around the world. And not only pray for peace, but through the power of the people – through the power of podcasting – SPEAK OUT for peace.

As I emailed you, though I strongly disagree with your opinions I am pleased that you've put them forward with a minimum of bluster and arrogance in your podcast.

I am very much interested in finding peace in this whole situation, but I fear the peace through israeli capitulation to the demands of a world that doesn't always (or, ever, as I think carol and charlie would say) have it's best intrests at heart.

Without a worldwide universal recognition of Israel I believe that certain governments give their tacit approval to terrorism without actually having to
"promote" terrorism. I believe that if you say that Israel doesn't have the right to be there as a government you in effect say that Israel is tresspassing. When that premiss is taken to it's conclusion the only answer in the minds of Arab youths is to kick out the tresspasser.

My solution is to build a giant, 7 mile high bulldozer that will cut Israel right out of the continent and place it in the ocean as an island next to Florida. Technically it will still be the holy land since it's the same ground that their ancestors walked upon, but now it will be within a boat ride of Walt Disney World and Ft Lauderdale. Any arabs who would like to return to the Palastinian territories would be welcome, but once they see their first spring break wet teeshirt contest I suspect they'll want to stay.

At a certain point my fingers just start spewing satire. My appologies

Praying doesn’t get peace. Speaking out doesn’t get peace. Fighting, killing, and removing aggressors is the only thing that, eventually, results in peace, at least until the next aggressor comes along.

When your enemy is civilized you can quit when they surrender. You can work out a treaty that they'll stick to. When your enemy are barbarians with a blood lust that can only be satiated by murdering you and your children, the only solution is to wipe them out as completely as possible.

You could put them on an island on the other side of the planet, and they’d still be attacked regularly by fundy Muslims following the holy edict “and kill them wherever you find them.” (The Quran, 2.191)
