Hey guys a lot of people have asked me what I use for my video part of my podcast/webcast . I use both a HF 200 Canon and two Lifecam Cinemas. I did a Video review of the cameras in HD and a Side by Side with the Logitech 9000 pro
Hope it helps you guys out because it really improved the quality of my webcast

I realize this is a rather late response byt thanks for letting us know the equipment you used, iI really want to get my hands on one as I often find it hard to take a webcast seriously if it's bad quality video/audio.
Have you any idea what the best place to buy these products from is? And whether there are any competing models that may be worth looking at?
Cheers,

Here's a review page for camcorders.
http://reviews.cnet.com/camcorders/
or
http://dvformat.digitalmedianet.com/
Or you could simply Google the question yourself.

Thanks for the links. I know I could have whacked it into Google but I would prefer to ask a person who has personal experience with the product raher than be given a list of sometimes biased reviews.
Anyhow I stumbled across what looks like a ridiculously sophisticated HD webcam ( http://www.lifesize.com/en/Products/Accessories/Camera.aspx ) which sadly I didn't see on your review page but it fits the bill for what I want to do perfectly.
Anyone seen/used this webcam before?
Thanks for your time,
Dane

That looks pretty good, but from I saw on various web pages was that it's pretty expensive and that's probably why it wasn't reviewed in that group.

?2,500! Suggests to me that it's more exclusively designed for businesses. Nevermind, there's more than enough on those review pages to get my head around.
Thanks again for the assistance.

I must have missed that unit. The prices I saw for "lifesize room" and "lifesize express" were $7,999.99 for express and $14,533.57 for room.
With prices like that, $2,500 seems like a steal. But even that is about $2300 to much for me.
Good luck with your search. You might want to check out the sites that actually sell the kind of equipment you're looking for. Most of them have a "customer review" section where they post positive AND negative reviews. And there are sites along the lines of "consumer reports" that may help.
You can also get one of those "flip" camcorders for between $1-200, but I don't know if that's what you're looking for.

I think the ones you saw were mainly for futuristic web conference meetings, sort of like the beginning of A.I. All very sophisticated stuff, never knew such things existed!
I basically need a normal external webcam but one that's capable of HD and decent sound quality - but preferably less than ?300.
I'll check the usual places. I'm sure Amazon and Play have obtained such technology by now!

recently, my friend bought Lifecam... according to him, it is quite better in its series...What exactly does he do with the camera?
Unless you're making a lot of money from your podcast it looks like overkill to me.

I have also recently purchased the same gadget. Its cool to have one.I'll ask you the same question. What do you do with it, and why wasn't a cheaper camera just as good for the job?
