Hello all,

I know it's stupid to get too bogged down stats (especially when you've just been live for a month or so) but it's the question I can't seem to find a straight answer to....how do I know how well I'm doing? I use podbean, and they give me my subscriber numbers, episode hits, site visitors...but I don't know what any of the numbers mean in the grand scheme of things! What qualifies you as a successful podcast?

The number you are interested in is downloads. Do they give that? Subscribers, etc is nice, but in the end you are looking for downloads. Thats one of the reasons I like Libsyn (http://www.uselibsyn.com). They have great stats.

As for how well you are doing, I heard one podcaster say "I'm only getting 100 downloads an episode. To this I say, go get in a room with 100 people. Thats a lot of people. We get hung up on the people with TV exposure (Leo Laporte, Adam Corrolla) who have thousands of listeners.

Podcasting is a slow burn. Focus on creating great content.
