Hey guys, I'm in the market for a nice sounding podcasting microphone, and I'm presently torn between the Blue Snowball (www.bluemic.com (http://www.bluemic.com)) and the MXL 900 series (www.mxlmics.com (http://www.mxlmics.com)).
Would the owners of either mics like to help me out by giving your thoughts, or, even better, posting some audio recorded through them?
Additionally, I'd love to know the differences in sound between the 990 & 990s, and the USB versions of both aforementioned mics. Am I right in thinking the standard 990 does not come with any sort of cable; while the USB version doesn't come with a shock mount? '
I've been trying to get a podcast going for some time now, so as soon as I can get a nice sounding mic, I should be able to finally get something done.
I like warm sounding mics with good quality: additionally to podcasting, I'm interesting in recording some public-domain books. The best sound for money, then, is key.
Thanks, people.
Edit: Additionally, FYI, I am using a macintosh, I'm not entirely sure as to whether or not they have a tendency to pick up sound any differently to PC's, if you're experienced with hardware, let me know.
