I have used these headphones for almost 2 years now. They are currently plugged into my home PC, where they are used primarily for listening to MP3s and playing games. I have also used them to watch movies by connecting them to my home theater receiver.
Sound quality is the most important headphones characteristic for me, and that is the reason I was willing to pay a little more than the average price for headphones. Initially, these headphones took 3-4 days of a break-in period before they really started to shine. I left them running at about 1/2 volume for 3 days straight. After that, boy oh boy did they sound nice! The clarity of the music and sound effects is superb, with smooth response across all bass, mids and highs.
Hope my opinion helps!
Joey

Shure makes the best by far! I have the SE102MPA and they have remarkable clarity, they are just fantastic!

Hey,
First off I really think only Sennheiser do worthy headphones! I'm a bit biased as have been using them for years and have only dappled in other makes, but I just love them!
Well it kind of depends what you need them for. The Sennheiser HD 280's are great but quite highly professional. Do you need them for a professional reason or for your own personal use?
If, for example, you are looking for DJ headphones then I would highly recommend the HD 212 PRO, amazing quality, and they look sexy too!
But if you need headphones for regular stuff like listening to music etc then the Street II series is great... Good luck!

If you want bose quality with noise canceling but don't want to shell out the 300 bucks for a Bose Quite and Comfort 3, I recommend Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7. It's pretty much on par with Bose except less expensive. Not sure if it fits your "style" though.
