Alesis ipod recording solution

I'm producing a podcast which requires reports from writers all over the country. We cannot buy high-end Marantz recorders for everyone so I'm looking at this device to allow them to use their iPods as portable voice recorders.

Does anyone have experience or have any working knowledge of this device?

ive got the mixer without the ipod support and its very good... but i read yesterday, that not all ipod will work with the ipod mixer...
