Hello.
I am starting a podcast to help promote my website, and I'm at the stage where I'd like to link to the podast from the website itself. All the guides online have shown me how to link directly to the iTunes store. I generally like this approach because iTunes generates a lot of podcast traffic, however, I'm trying to be mindful of all potential listeners. I know that some people prefer to get their podcasts from places other than iTunes, so will my iTunes link be of any use to them? I'd have no problem linking directly to the RSS feed, but I don't want to complicate things by having a ton of links either.
As experienced podcasters, I'd appreciate your advice on this. If I'm linking to my podcast from my website, is an iTunes-only link sufficient, or should I try to accommodate absolutely everyone?

Accommodate everyone...make it as easy as possible for a new listener to grab your content in the method that "they" prefer.
This means a link to iTunes, your RSS feed, direct links to download each show as an individual file, and a player on your page so they can listen to the RSS feed or each episode directly from your page.

I just played around with my podcast page for this and agree with the other poster.
I played around and found a player to put on my podcast page, so you can play the current (or even past episodes) directly from your webpage.
Also making an link to the RSS file is nice. Most browsers can read this and it will show all of the items from your feed.
You can also put direct links to iTunes like you said, and other places like Yahoo and Google that allow you to subscribe to differnt RSS feeds. You can see all the links I put together at the bottom of my podcast page.

The way you create one for your podcast is simple. Create a regular HTML link.Instead of the last 8 numbers you place the number that the iTunes Store has created for your podcast. One way to find out the number is to right-click (Control-click) on your image and from the contextual menu select copy iTunes Store URL.Paste that URL onto your web page and you're all set.
