Page Rank.

And yes, it is incredibly important. Without a decent page rank you don't exist on the web, for all practical purposes.

PR is a google term which stands for Page Rank. Its like giving rank to a page based on its back links. For example if you have a site and that site and your sites link is present on others site and all those pages which are linking to your site have good page rank then you will be allotted little page rank too.

A good PR site has good chances to gain higher ranking but that doesn't mean that the site will get good amount of traffic. May be that keyword is not that competitive. It all depends and relative to each other.

Hope this will help you to understand little about the PR.

Hello...
PR means page rank which means your rank in Google when user search in Google...

PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page's importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a page's PageRank is calculated.

PageRank is Google's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page's ranking in the search results. It isn't the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.

From here on in, we'll occasionally refer to PageRank as "PR".

Here's an addition:

Pagerank can get you higher in the SERPS but it does not ultimately dictate search engine result ranking. For example: A PR1 website can rank higher than a PR2.

Yes it is important. It determines a site's value but dont mingle it up with SERP and traffic.

Google's numerical value (1-10) given to pages based on the quantity and quality of incoming links they've got vs the outgoing links on the page. It is easily faked and the PR displayed on the toolbar is not always accurate.

Google PR seems to be a combination of the number of links and quality of links back to a particular website. That determines Google's page rank value for the webpage. Lower PR sites can rank higher on the SERPs for any given keyword, however.

PR is determined by the number of sites linking in to your site and by the PR of those sites. It is basically a popularity contest. PR itself, does not give you initial traffic, but the process of building PR does. (Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?

Here is another silly question. What is Google pr? Is it important?

Google PR =Google Page Rank

Explanation: It is the green bar you can see in Google tool bar while visiting a web page. It shows how much important that page in eyes of Google. Least value in PR is 0 and highest is 10.

It is important for visitors eyes and advertisement firms. No other uses.

Exactly. Just because you have a lower PR doesn't mean you don't rank well in the SERPs.

Page rank may be important but it in no way effects where you are listed on Google. I have a couple sites that are number 1-3 on the first page of google with no page rank. And they are "beating" sites with PR 3 & 4.

Original content and quality links seems to be what Google likes - today.

PR is importqant when it comes to backlinks, High pr backlinks help move up in serps. However, this does not mean that websites with high pr homepages would rank higher in all categories. Each keyword has over two hunderd algorithmic ranking factors that come to play before a webpage is chosen to appear high up in serps.

While quality backlinks from high PR sites is definitely one of the key factors you want to shoot for in SEO, don't underestimate the value of links for low (or even no) PR sites. My site has really shot up in the rankings lately, but it was by an odd quirk of fate that resulted in some free listings being multiplied on the web since the websites that I had my original listings on decided to create multiple instances of their main site. I definitely didn't complain!

It seems that if you get backlinks from high PR sites it does have effect on your PR. Some people say that it doesn't work, but from my experience it does work.

As a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) executive i should tell you that PR is important but however there are sites with low PR that have better results than sites with high PR ... so it's all going down to proper SEO and link building
there are a number of factors that are important
like for example how old is your site(domain)
the on-site SEO and the off-site SEO

The off-site SEO is backlinking from other sites, article submissions, social bookmarking, forum and blog comments with the keywords you have targeted, satellite domains that link back to you in order to get better SERPs
and lots of other stuff

on-site SEO are all the meta tags and stuff you include on your website
in order to get it more SEO friendly

P.S if you have any other questions just ask i`ll do my best to help you with that.

The pagerank is a measurement for google view on how "important" a site is.

But, websites are not built for google but for users. So don't care too much about the PR, instead focus on your content for your users.
