View Full Version : RSS feeds are confounding me!

I know this set of questions may have been asked before, but I haven't been able to pull together the answer I need from the information I've stripmined, so I hope you'll forgive me if I baldly ask:

1. I have recorded a number of podcasts, have them available on the Internet Archive site, have a Blogger blog (http://cheesesteakvillage.blogspot.com/) with links to them, and so I guess I have a podcast. It is my understanding that Blogger creates an RSS feed. But where on the Blogger page can I find this feed, and is this the feed that I should submit to search engines?

2. I have used FeedBurner to create a feed (I think), but what am I to do with this? Should this be the feed to be submitted to search engines, and, if so, what is the use of the Blogger feed? Also, I find myself flopping around in FeedBurner, and can't find this feed - where does it reside? Which should I use?

3. For maximum exposure, should all these feeds be manually submitted to the various Podcast directories (oncluding this one)? I have seen software that will submit to many mulitple direcroies, and is that the preferred way of doing things?

I've had a lot of fun creating my first ten or so podcasts, and tackled the recording and hosting issues with no problem after research. But Really Simple Syndication is anything but. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated after these two months of pounding my head.

1. Look up by your url bar while on your blogger site and click the rss icon that appears to find the exact address.

2. You want to point the blogger feed to the feedburner feed and then use the feedburner feed.

3. You use the feedburner to promote, not the original. That way if your podcast moves (and you'll probably get sick of blogger like most do), then you can just switch out the new url and not lose any subscribers.
