View Full Version : Tracking downloads screws with RSS feeds

We are trying to track downloads on our podcast mp3s and have recently attempted to produce an rss feed for the podcast so people can subscribe to it.
The problem is that we track our downloads and so the download links appear like this: http://www.raisetheriver.com/podcast...pt-special.mp3
The problem is that itunes doesn't seem to be able to understand this. It can find the downloads but they won't play. Similarily. Using the rss feeds seems to produce php files. For example, I used the podcasting program on my N95
, found the rss feed but the files were huge php files (so the mp3 was there but seemingly intermingled).

If we remove the php part and just make it a simple link the rss feed and itunes etc work fine.

Now we've also tried to use podpress on our wordpress site. Evidence of it can be found here: http://raisetheriver.com/poker-conte...gory/podcasts/
Again the same thing happens. Without any alterations to links it works fine. But if we enable the included tracking option "Enable podPress Statistics" the links brake and it says there isn't enough information to give a break down of the stats - so we don't even know if it's working anyway.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And if there is a viable/free alternative to the way we're approaching it then please suggest it
