Let me explain my current setup before I ask my question:
I use an MXL 990 condenser microphone that goes into channel 1 of a 4/6 channel Behringer Eurorack UB802 mixer, from which I take the stereo Tape Out output to an iMic USB audio adapter where it goes into my computer. When I record The WordPress Podcast (http://wordpresspodcast.org) (and other things) I use Skype combined with a professional version of Pamela (http://www.pamela-systems.com/) to record conversations at 44.000kHz 16-bit stereo WAV files with my voice on one channel and everyone else's on the other.
This has worked out well for me in the past, but now I'd like to include music and other recorded material into the recording of the podcast in such a way that a) Other's involved in the Skype call can hear what's being played back and b) the sound, as well as our speaking over it, is heard and recorded.
I've tried to use the line output of my laptop and bring it in on channel 2 or the mixer using a 1/4" high impedance cable, but it introduces a loud buzzing noise and makes the recording unusable.
Any advice is appreciated.
