Hi everyone,
I am new to podcasting and need some information on what I need.

I currently am testing "Podcast Station" and want to know how to continue.
This is what I am looking to do:

1) Have a half hour - one hour podcast every week
2) Have a co-host and sometimes a guest...so we would be using a minimum of two microphones....sometimes the co-host would be calling in using Skype or whatever would sound best.
3) Be able to record live phone calls to the show.
4) Add original music to the recording to sound more professional or "radiolike".

I am doing this for a friend who was doing radio shows once a week but the station that was helping him changed hands so he can no longer broadcast and he wants to continue his show through podcasting....to say the least neither of us know anything about creating a podcast so any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
Jim

Well, podcasting in a way is the same concept as radio (or TV), at least in terms of production. If you want to do things like have multiple hosts, take calls, etc. you need the equipment and know-how to do it. Did your friend have any hand in the production of his show? If so, you've got a good asset. It's only a matter of figuring out what the radio station did, but on a smaller scale.

I don't use your software, so I can't tell you how to work it with everything you'll need, but I can tell you that you'll probably need a mixer for one or two more hosts, plus the occasional guest. I'd say a four channel model. You may also have to pipe your phone calls in through it, but there is software out there that can do this.

I suggest looking at sites like Podcast411 (http://www.podcast411.com/page5.html) for tutorials.

I'm in the same boat. I'm using audacity. Also looking for info on conducting short interviews with distant guests. I've never used Skype, is that the best method?

Also looking for ideas for the website. I ordered one through godaddy, but not sure what to do with it now that I have it. Also, I'm still learning how to upload the podcast, it will be 30min, 1x per week.

I have my first episode mostly ready on audacity, for me that was actually the easy part.

Thank you in advance.
