Well, it looks like Triyo.com's (http://www.triyo.com) finally dead and gone. Too bad, to, since they had a great tool. The site was always a touch twitchy, but that didn't stop me from visiting it all the time, or recommending it often. The pinging tool was fantastic. Does anyone know of any other service that does what Triyo did?
I know, I know... "A tech site that went under? Is water wet too?" (http://www.podcastalley.com/forum/showpost.php?p=623684&postcount=3) ;)
Still, it will be missed! A moment of silence, please...

I don't think I ever bothered with it. What did it do?

Hee hee. I liked Triyo, but never used it myself. Always wished it would subscribe to your feed and just do the ping for you.
Maybe that's why I don't have very many listeners :)

I don't think I ever bothered with it. What did it do?
It was a podcast directory and pinging service. The neat feature that they had was a text field that had three functions:
1) Enter your podcast feed URL to become a part of the directory;
2) Use it to search for podcasts (it wasn't a great search function, but it did a decent job);
3) Use it to enter your podcast feed URL, tick a check box that said "ping," and once you hit "enter" Triyo would send out a signal to something like 60+ different podcast and blog directories/search engines telling them that there was something new at your feed address and they should check it out to update their info. This is a good thing, because if a service accepts pings then it bumps you to the front of the line for the feed crawler that they use. If you don't ping, you have to wait til they get around to you. In some cases that can be as long as a couple of hours or more than a day!
I liked the service very much, but I was never clear on their business model. It was completely free, and it sold no advertising -- not even AdSense. They also had some kind of podcasting software (which I believe was also free) for the server side that you could download, but I was never clear on what exactly it was supposed to do. It may have had something to do with stats or RSS generation or something. It was a bit above my head. They had a donation button that was hard to find, and I did send them a few bucks once or twice, but I don't think enough people could find it.

You could try searching for "ping podcast" and seeing what comes up (other than my show of course. :) )
There's still Autopinger.com and Allpodcasts.com but both lists look a little out of date.
