View Full Version : Replace Audio on Show #1?

I've been producing the Working Podcast for three years now, and the first show continues to get a sizable number of downloads each week. However, the show has evolved (and hopefully improved!). I don't think the show will necessarily get people to come back for more.
Rather than pull the old shows and lose the traffic, what are your thoughts of changing the audio to a promo - or adding an intro/outro explaining that the show has changed, there's a new Website, etc.
And advice? Thanks so much!
Thanks!

I think just introducing episode 1 with a disclaimer, which is actually a demonstration of your present audio skills, would be an awesome idea. I have to check out how often our first ep is dl'ed and maybe do the same thing:)

Before I replaced the audio... I would just tag an intro to the shows in question.
"Hello, this is Podcaster Bob. You're about to listen to a classic episode of Podcast Bob's Podcast. I want to give you some updated info here. There it was... enjoy this God awful attempt at a first episode"
;)
All kidding aside, I think you get my point. You might find that changing the episode into a promo may make old-time listeners mad. People change computers and lose their subscriptions, etc... they may want the classics. They won't mind the intro tagged on the front.

I think if you're being truthful to yourself, you don't change the audio. It was the best you could do at that moment.
Perhaps --if you haven't done so already-- get it off the feed, and make it download only. If you're really embarrassed, you can do what I have seen some podcaster do: download by e-mail request. People need to send you an e-mail and you send them (a link to) your audio file back.
