Hi there, I hope this is the right place (if not, please excuse me) and a good place to post this request. Anyway, I'll get straight to the point. I run a fansite and community for the group Hope (as featured on The X Factor) and I'm looking for someone who can create regular (once per week) podcasts with content relating to the fansite, Hope news and gossip, etc. I have the ability to host these MP3 files so that isn't a requirement of any prospective podcaster - I just need someone to help create a well-sounded podcast, on a non-payment basis.

My site itself is quite busy and we have many very active members with some of the members of Hope and their families registered and participating. (In case it helps, the URL to the fansite and community is: http://www.communityfansites.com/hope/forum/).

If anyone thinks they can help create these podcasts, or know of someone that does, please let me know either via PM or via a reply to this topic.

Thanks in advance.

Does this professional podcast gig pay?

I was wondering the same thing :D

Well I'm not sure why you call it "professional" as it's something that our fansite is doing solely off our own back and we are not formally affiliated with Hope, despite our close connections with them.

That said, this is not a paid position but I hope that a fan or interested podcaster would like to consider this.

We called it "professional" because you called it "professional." This is from your original post:

I just need someone to help create a professional podcast.<emphasis mine>

If you're looking for someone to create a podcast as a fan, that's great, and more power to you, but when you say "professional," you're talking a whole other animal.

If you didn't mean professionally produced (i.e. - costs you money), then you should be careful about how you use the word. That's all.

There should be some kind of compensation, because creating a professional sounding podcast (I believe what is meant here) is expensive, both money-wise and time-wise.

I think many organizations with a low podcasting budget don't strive for high audio quality, but rather for large user participation, and then the highest possible audio quality the low budget allows.

I think Talkshoe and Yahoo Live (or UStream), in combination with a screen sharing desktop application like CamTwist are excellent technologies for this. The quality isn't high (telephone), but the user participation and experience is high, provided you promote it properly on the fan site.

You want as many channels as possible (text chat, telephone, live audio feed, live video and screencast feed), to have as good a user experience as you can afford for almost free.

Perhaps my use of the word "professional" was misleading then. I just meant that I don't want it to sound "crappy" (after all, who does?!) - that's all.

Anyway, I've removed the word from my original post so perhaps we can now see if there is any interest in the project. :)

Hopefully you will find someone interested.

You should look into sites like Talkshoe.com and others like it (as Rasheed suggested), because they act as a big conference call. The sound quality isn't high end, but with a active audience and a lively show, that may not matter. Talkshoe used to require everybody be registered (not anymore) and call in via a traditional phone was the most reliable (and expensive) way to get involved; but now they've got they're own Voice over IP phone application which should keep the cost of the show affordable.

It would be a good way to test the podcasting waters without too much effort (they convert the file, host it, and even provide an RSS feed).

Yeah, that's great advise you guys/gals have given so far. My main issue is that I need someone to run and co-ordinate the podcast, hence the need for a podcaster. :/

It's going to be a tall order finding a podcaster who not only can create a professional-sounding show, has the time to do it for you for free, and is interested in/has heard of Hope. But, stranger things have happened. Good luck!

Aye, you might be right but I had someone create a wonderful podcast for me for my RPG site a while back so I'm sure there is someone out there with a bit of spare time on their hand.

Fingers crossed. :)

Perhaps you could try craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org/) as well.

Pretty good suggestion there.
