I just created a feed, and when I do a Get Info in iTunes (OS X), I see no Summary or other artwork for either the podast or the episode. The line is in the form of (completely created by FeedForAll):

<itunes:image href="http://aLegitURL/logo.jpg" />

... and I've checked the path, which works in a browser. My image is 600x600, which Apple's site says:

"<itunes:image>
This tag specifies the artwork for your podcast. Put the URL to the image in the href attribute. iTunes prefers square .jpg images that are at least 600 x 600 pixels, which is different than what is specified for the standard RSS image tag."

I also had a 157x157 image, but that didn't work either. Thanks.

Are you talking about in the iTunes music store, or are you talking about for podcasts downloaded to your computer?

It sounds to me like you're talking about doing a Get Info on downloaded episodes. If that's the case, you won't see the info from the RSS file. That's only a set of instructions telling aggregators how to display, organize and handle your feed. The info there does not travel with your files.

If you want artwork, descriptions, etc, to travel with your files, you'll need to add them as metadata. Most decent programs that can encode files can add basic meta data to your files. There are even some third party apps for adding the data after-the-fact. Just Google it.

Eric, You're spot on, it was a downloaded podcast from a manual subscription I did in iTunes. Update: the podcast just got accepted and the logo indeed shows up in the iTunes musics store, Podcasts section! Thanks for the very helpful feedback!
