Anyone who has been either an NLO fan or hater has to have noticed the slide of the program's rank on Podcast Alley. What's up at the Casa de Patrick... disgruntled co hosts, lack of energy and direction...I want the old NLO back... this one is not that much fun. Could it be that people might not all enjoy listening to Patrick chew gum into the mike all show long? "A bit" says Patrick, "you idiots didn't get it." And to prove his comedic genious, Patrick spends the next show not contributing anything but a short phrase. Two shows ago the fans were treated to Patrick reading the instructions for some pillow gadget a fan had sent him. This week most of the show dealt with the hurt feelings of one of the co hosts. Hopefully, the holidays might bring some inspiration and life back into what used to be an excellent podcast.

NLO has been up and down on the top 10 ladder over the last few months, it's true. But I personally wouldn't say the show's declining.

Patrick himself has acknowledged that he feels like sometimes the show is "coasting", and that it needs a kick-start. He has voiced his intention to come out with a lot of new ideas for segments, bits etc in the new year, so for anyone who's finding that the show's not what it was has that to look forward to.

But for me personally, (a fan of the show who has listened to every episode they've done) I'm enjoying it as much as ever. One thing I like about NLO and Patrick as a host is the variety of different themes (and particularly the running 'in' jokes) the show has, and how different an episode can be to the next. One show they do nothing but hard-bashing JB/Dagre, the next PM tries a new 'bit' which the fans either hate or love, but it gets people talking either way.

Then they throw out a live show with a studio full of hosts.

I'm not concerned about the show, but I'm interested to see what is coming up for 2008.

While I can understand the frustration, NLO has steadily been putting out product all the livelong day. People operate in phases. That giant chicken in Robin Hood said it best... "Sometimes the Ups Outnumber the Downs".

Patrick was doing what any creator does: Pushing the envelope.Maybe not as groundbreaking as Orson Welles ever did... But not EVERY bit is going to go over like spiced biscuits, you know?

I cut anyone that worked through the holidays some slack... There are PLENTY of podcasters out there chewing gum into the mic or worse that have no clue they are doing so.

I take on what's being said, but for me NLO is the podcast i look forward to the most each week!

Not the biggest Jonney B fan (the uncontrollable laughing gets to me a bit!), and i think the show needs a proper co host to complement patricks ego.......
