Podcast to portable mp3 player

I want to listen to a podcast on my portable mp3 player offline. Is there any way for me to download it to my player as an mp3 file? I plugged my player into my usb port, and tried dragging the podcast (from iTunes) into it, but I know that's not how you do it (cuz it won't work). hope someone can help!

You can't use iTunes if you don't have an iPod. For non-iPod audio players, you're better off getting your podcasts from someplace like Podcast Alley, or by just subscribing directly to the RSS feed.
