Hey Guys,

Wanted to make you aware of a new documentary video podcast from the Congo. They will be turning it into a feature length doc. afterwards. Production value is amazing. I've never seen a podcast with this quality. The filmmakers and women serving in the Congo are from Wilmington, NC

http://www.congocast.org (http://www.congocast.org/)

From the web site:

"In the summer of 2006, two American women left home to live and serve in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country oppressed by war and ravaged by violence against women and girls. Experience their story, chronicled via an original documentary podcast, and learn how you can tune in and change the world."

Love to hear your feedback about it.

Sincerely,

Sheila Brothers

This is just my honest opinion so, take it with a grain of salt.

1. I would eliminate the "jump, skip and scratch" of the captions in the center of the screen. It may have a place as an effect in a fictional film but I personally didn't care for it in a documentary. Also, there were several scenes where there was not enough contrast between th captions in the center and the background. Sometimes it was hard to read. This was emphasized by the "jump, skip and scratch".

2. As atrocious as it is to consider the true-to-life possibility of being raped in the Congo, it seemed to be the consuming item through out the entire clip from beginning to end. I would have liked a couple paragraphs where the two women said exactly what motivated them to go there, what they intended to do, their goal in making the documentary, basically anything else to escape the CONSTANT mention of their fear of being raped while making this documentary.

These are simply my immediate thoughts after having viewed it once, so...like I said, take it with a grain of salt.

Other than that, it looks like it may end up being part of a much larger, interesting documentary. Good luck with it!

Production wise, this was done really well.
The story is compelling as well.

I was in my own ridiculous paranoid way thinking my Ex-Girlfriend would be one of the women who went to get this story.

Thank god it's not her. I would have had a meltdown.
