Hello.

I am from a multi track music recording background. I have used Ntrack and GB for recording my personal music.

I have a mac now and I am going to use GB and I have a M-audio frast track that I use with an analog mixer.

In my music recording ... I would put everything on different tracks so I could control volume, eq - etc... you know the drill.

I am having a difficult time putting my mind around podcasting set up.

If I have me and another person in the same room then both voices are going to go to one track.
Do I use a 2nd comp and then import the track to the primary comp?

Then there is the whole sykpe thing.... can you separate tracks that way?
But then the sound quality has issues.
Can you help me get my mind around this issue so I can move forward?

Thank you.

To do multiple tracks with computer recording you usually work with multiple soundcards or rack unit A/D converters.

To record two mono inputs on seperate tracks, I don't know if garage band does this, but in Adobe Audition and other programs, you can select left channel for track 1 and right channel for track 2, and then hard pan each track to its respective side in the mixer.

If you want to record skype, you'll need a second sound card which can record a loopback mix, basically it loops back and records anything it's playing out.

Consumer equipment isn't your friend when it comes to heavy multitracking.
