Question from a newbie

I'm trying to edit some audio with Audacity. I'm importing from an Olympus ws100. When I try to playback, it swipes over the audio real fast (and makes a weird scratch type of noise). Anybody know how can I fix it.

You cannot import WMA(Windows Media Audio, I looked it up, it's your recording format) files into Audacity, they need to be converted to WAV before editing.
