I work for a podcast hosting network. They are thinking about creating a cool Mac and Windows widget that has to do with podcasting. A widget that people would love.

I was thinking the widget could let podcasters organize their sound clips or so.

Any ideas? What kind of widget would you want to download as a podcaster?

As a podcaster? The only thing I could think of is a sound board, but I don't think in terms of widgets as I don't use any. An easy to use and set up sound board would be nice, though :)

A soundboard would be ok... but you could make it multi platform by programming it in HTML or flash to be run on the users computer rather than online.

Podcasting is techincally heavy. I use Adobe Audition, Mp3Tag, and FeedForAll. Currently I'm recording a scripted media review podcast and when I do start working on my talk show style podcast, I'll probably be using a midi keyboard hooked to Propellerhead's Reason as my soundboard with programmed sound samples to avoid the clicking sound of a typing keyboard or mouse with a normal soundboard.

To be honest, I can't say I'd need anything else, at least not in a small program (widget) format.

What exactly is a soundboard??

A bunch of icons or text buttons, each of which when clicked plays a sound. Radio stations have hardware versions of them for all their sound effects.

If you don't mind the dirtier words, my favorite online soundboard is the Samuel L Jackson soundboard (http://www.meehawl.com/Flash/Samuel%20L%20Jackson%20Soundboard/)
