Hi, not sure if I should post this here, but I am thinking about purchasing an iRiver clix or a Sandisk 260e and presently have an ipod shuffle. I listen to podcasts mostly and if I would buy a iRiver or Sandisk would I be limited to Rhapsody or be unable to download my favourite podcast. I use itunes to download the podcasts that I listen to presently. This reply will influence what I buy next. Thanks in advance. Michael

You should be able to use the other brands with iTunes. Your players won't have some of the same functionality with the other players (behind the scenes at least), and it won't play purchases music from the iTunes musics store, but you should be fine using it for podcasts. ITunes does not control the format of the podcasts, or add DRM, it just collects them for you.
Just to be sure, I would look at this forum (http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=149) or search their help section (http://search.info.apple.com/index.html?search=Go&lr=lang_en&kword=&q=itunes&&type=khelp) for some answers to your questions about other brands of players.

You should be able to download podcasts using almost anything. Subscribing to them might be different.
All you need a podcatching client. If your on Windows, take a look at Media Monkey
