Okay, here's the deal:

I want to shoot a low-budget music video for the AirFerg song "Why Don't Hookers Take Foodstamps" (http://airferg.com/music/hookers.mp3). I would like the video to take place, primarily, in a supermarket. The questions I have:

- How in the world do I get hooked up with a supermarket that will give me 2-4 hours for the shoot?

- Is anyone in the LA/OC area willing to play the hooker, gratis?

This isn't a moneymaking venture - I'd like to post the video on youtube and funnyordie and see where it leads.

Thoughts?

I've often found what works best is just to ask. Be considerate of their concerns. Offer to come in when it's convenient for them, etc. I've been allowed to shoot inside a small grocery store, a VFW Post, a strip mall and I even shot a low budget music video (http://www.wyethdigital.com/inner_city_moviepage.htm) in a car wash, a clothing store, a nightclub, in a strangers' sports car and other places just for the price of asking (and this was before YouTube). We even got local bystanders to parade along with us and to stage a fight!

However, if you think the big retail stores won't let you in, look around for a small, local gorcery store, or is there a neighborhood grocery coop you could use? That's what the folks who make the Chad Vader series used (Williamson Street Coop in Madison, WI).

I agree with Eric. Ask the store manager. Be sure to mention that you'll keep out of the way of the customers. Of course this might mean you shoot at 3am or something when the store isn't busy.
