Hey folks,
I just picked up an Apple TV today.
Anyone have an opinion on this thing?
I figured mine out, and I'm intrigued overall. Lots of the vidcasts I'm checking out look quite good on my tv.
I'm curious to hear the opinions of others about this device.

My opinion is that I want one, but I need the widescreen first! :D

I don't have an opinion on it, and likely won't. Real TV's bad enough. And the vidcasts I watch are grainy on a 17 inch monitor, I'd hate to see them in HD :)

Many are starting to put out a hi-quality feed. Alas, we had one that was full standard-def resolution until the company we were partnered with went belly-up! Now we've got to find another alternative. They looked gorgeous on TV too :(

Consider this, Leo Laporte's vidcast looked 'exceptional' for being internet tv. I was rather stunned.
Some compressed stuff with fast visual movement definitely gets the digital scramble thing going, but I'd have to say this is the best foray into internet tv I've seen(in terms of easily viewing stuff on the tv).
Even the content that has some grainy internet look, I'm still impressed with how it's playing on the TV.
What I'm really intrigued by is what apple is trying to do here. I wouldn't watch lots of these programs on my computer, but since I've been able to 'very practically' view them on a television, my interest has grown. The really exiting thing for me is also being a developer and playing with this thing knowing it's where some people are going to view our video content.
Ouuuu, also, even regular cable companies compress their signal on lots of channels, which to me renders a very similar quality.
I've had fun playing with this thing the last day. I'm exited because it's only the 'beginning' of this product's history.

This morning I seem rather redundant in my writing.
