I'm supposed to see this for what the error means:

http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/#sec-prolog-dtd

Could somebody translate this into plain English, please.
I'm trying to add my podcast feed here, have been successful with every other podcast directory but not this, any ideas?

Not trying to spam, but my web site with the feed is:
http://podcast.radioactivemetal.net/

Am I doing something wrong? I tried the RSS feed link as well, didn't help.
Any suggestions?
Please and thank you.

Hmmm. I don't see anything in particular wrong with your feed. You submitted http://podcast.radioactivemetal.net/rss2.aspx to podcast Alley?

I notice that the Feed Validator (http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fpodcast.radioactivemeta l.net%2Frss2.aspx) throws up a couple warnings. Shouldn't keep you from successfully submitting but they should be taken care of, and who knows.

If after fixing those and making sure that's the link you're submitting, I'd say you'd need help from someone at podcast alley in particular. I don't know any emails but hunt around, they can't be that well hidden :)

Oh, and when you're asking for help, it's perfectly okay to point at the stuff you're having trouble with. It's not spam! :)

Thanks Yotto.

Yes, I am having trouble submitting my podcast, they won't validate it, because the Validator won't accept the feed. I questioned my hosting provider about the extension (rss2.aspx) does it seem normal? Actually there are a couple of podcasting directories I'm having trouble with. Are those just warnings? if they are, then how come I can't seem to find my show on this directory. What can I do to fix it up. Thank you for your help.

No need to hunt around for emails and people to contact. You just need to post this problem in the correct forum, which is Podcast Alley Help (http://www.podcastalley.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=255). They've got tech support subscribed to that one, so your question is more likely to be answered the fastest there.

They're the ones who designed the system, so they should know what their errors mean. All we would be doing is guessing.

This is the description of the error.

http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/#sec-prolog-dtd

Can you tell what it means?

That link explains the declaration and mark-up language of XML, but it doesn't explain PCA's error.

I think The Ferf's looking for the wording of the error Podcast Alley is returning to you. Again, what you've provided is a link to a fairly technical explanation of XML declarations, which doesn't necessarily narrow the problem down.

Thank you for trying to help me
This is what I get:

Add a Podcast to Podcast Alley

Validating feed at "http://podcast.radioactivemetal.net"...

Critical Errors :

CRITICAL Missing or invalid XML Document Type Declaration. See http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/#sec-prolog-dtd. (data: Line 1) (code: 1020)

Summary: Your podcast contains fatal errors. Unfortunately, we cannot accept your submission until they are corrected.

I ALSO TRIED THIS:

Add a Podcast to Podcast Alley

Validating feed at "feed://podcast.radioactivemetal.net/rss2.aspx"...

Critical Errors :

CRITICAL File does not exist (data: feed://podcast.radioactivemetal.net/rss2.aspx) (code: 1000)
Summary: Your podcast contains fatal errors. Unfortunately, we cannot accept your submission until they are corrected

Well, the first try failed because your feed isn't at http://podcast.radioactivemetal.net. It's at http://podcast.radioactivemetal.net/rss2.aspx.

I'm going to guess that your 2nd try failed because your feed isn't at feed://podcast.radioactivemetal.net/rss2.aspx, it's at http://podcast.radioactivemetal.net/rss2.aspx. Change your link from the former to the latter, and then resubmit.

Goes to show what the appropriate information can accomplish. I'm guessing that's a pretty common mistake. Always a good idea to double check your entries before clicking submit.

If you need your feed address, and you're using a browser with RSS Reader capabilities, like Firefox or Safari, you should always control-click (on a Mac) or right-click on the link and copy the address from the menu that pops up. Simply following the link of the feed will end up with the address displayed as feed://myRSS.xml.
