Hi there,
When my partner and I first set up our podcast over a year ago, we wanted to spend our time creating, not getting bogged down with having to learn blogging software, knowing which templates or plug-ins to use, and understanding CSS in case we wanted to customize our site. Fortunately, Apple had just released iWeb (http://www.apple.com/ilife/iweb/) as part of the new iLife suite. It mostly was a dream come true.
However, iWeb has some limitations, and we eventually began feeling constrained by them. The biggest limitation is that you can't enter custom scripts and HTML into iWeb, which is practically required of you want to use to their fullest the myriad of web based podcasting tools available, like Podtrac or Feedburner. You can't enter the codes for Adsense, Amazon, or even Apple's own iTunes affiliate program!
But there is a solution: It's called "iWeb Enhancer" (http://web.mac.com/cbrantly/iWeb/Software/iWeb%20Enhancer.html) and it is a stand-alone application that converts the scripts you add to your iWeb pages into functioning HTML and Java.
Here's how it works: From the Shape Tool, you select a rounded-corner rectangle and size it to the scripted element you want to add. Place it where you want it, and double-click the box. A text insertion point will be visible. You must enter one of two HTML tags first, but once you add them, all you have to do is paste your script into the box. Save your iWeb site, and then publish, either to a stand-alone folder for uploading onto your own site, or publish to .Mac. After you've done that, run iWeb Enhancer. It will ask where your site is located, so point it at the right place and hit enter. IWeb Enhancer is very fast. It only takes about 3 seconds to handle our site (which has something like 70+ pages to it), and it tells you when it's through. You have to run iWeb Enhcancer every time you republish your site to it's folder, but like I said, the program is fast, so it's not a big deal. Then just upload.
This program is a MUST for anyone who wants to share their podcasts or blogs with more than just family friends. You can download a demo version that gives you ten uses, and then after that you have to buy a key, which is incredibly cheap, considering the versatility it adds to iWeb.
Cost: $12
