View Full Version : How do I get the sound from the mixer into the computer?

Once I buy the mixer and the microphone, how do I get the sound I am recording onto the computer?

Do I just run a 1/4"(?) to the minijack input on the back of my computer? The line in or the record? Then just use Audacity to record it?

Also was hoping for comments on my hobbyist just to see if I can do it setup:

I was looking at the Behringer XENYX 1002 Mixer and the Behringer Xenyx 802. It will probably be the smaller one for $59.99. There will be two of us, so I am guessing we need two mics. I thought about getting the Behringer XM8500 Microphone $19.99. I saw a coat hanger used as a mic stand (I'm cheap.)

Is it possible to have a third person, my sound guy, be able to "add sounds" like clapping, laughing, etc. and so on during the recording with these devices?

Thank you for any help.

I would stay away from the mini jacks if you can.

If have firewire, look at the Behringer FCA202

Thanks. I'm thinking I should wait on this Behringer Firewire Podcasting Studio (http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/Behringer-Podcastudio-Bundle-with-FireWire-Interface-?full_sku=240559) one as it contains one of your components.
