I am trying to download older podcasts for several different podcasts. I am using the latest release of itunes 7, and have preferences for podcasts set to download all episodes, and keep all episodes. I just switched computers and deleted all the older podcasts, thinking i could just redownload them.
Now the problem is that they only seem to go a few weeks back and thats it. GRRRRRR. can anyone help me?>

Many podcasts clear out old episodes from their feeds, and in that case it *may* be impossible to get the shows.
For each feed, if you put taht feed address into your browser it should bring up either a web page that you can download shows on, or at the very worst a text-looking file that with a little patience you can browse through and find mp3 files to download. But, if iTunes won't download them, they're likely not in the feed.

It depends very much on how the podcaster has set-up their web site. For example, I only keep the 20 most recent shows in my feed, but every show I've ever produced is on my web site. You can go through the archives on my web page, download every file (by right-click on Windows, or cmd-click on the Mac), and then drag them into iTunes or your player of choice.
Other people put their entire archive into their RSS. Yet others delete old shows once they age-off the RSS.
Your best bet would be to e-mail the individual podcaster and ask them. We love to get listener e-mails.

Yeah, what Wildebeat said.
We keep 20 shows in our feed, and many more in our archives, which is accessible from our website. (http://www.howtogirl.com/howtogirl/how_to_podcast/Archive.html) But not all of our shows are up any more. We've taken our oldest shows and put them together in a compilation on a DVD which we sell on our site, and plan to do the same with more. We've also occasionally made special shows available to the members of our forum and would like to do more of that as well. My, aren't we a manipulative bunch ;)
In any case, as has already been mentioned before, your best bet is to look the podcast's site over and email the producer if you can't find what you're looking for.

Good suggestions to check the podcast website for older shows. If all else fails, you may try getting the files by submitting a freedom of information request to the NSA, as they are archiving ALL the files on the internet for their Total Information Awareness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_Awareness_Office) program.

Big Brother knows all... except how to win a war. Or recover from a natural disaster. Or hire qualified experts in their fields for sensitive positions like UN diplomats, cabinet secretaries, Nasa scientists and... well, you get the idea. About the only thing they're good at is spying on people... but they even get caught doing that.

Yes! Hold down the SHIFT key while you click the triangle next to the podsast. It should load all the shows on that feed.

I have a related question.
I have succeeded to download archived podcast episodes, follwed by importing them into iTunes library.
However, the files appear in the Music folder rather then the Podcast folder. Obviously it would be more convenient if the episode was displayed together with its more recent brethren on the Podcast pane of iTunes.
Does anyone know how to execute this task?
Thanks

What is the best way to download bulk podcasts whether old or new from multiple sites? Is there any software tool that searches for them using particular keywords we specify it and download the podcasts for us?
