Why is the Spinnerscast listed as a video podcast? (http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_genres.php?pod_genre_id=12)

I didn't see one video episode in their entire line-up. Could this get moved into a more appropriate category?
Thanks,
Eric

Hiya WyethDigital.
It was set that way long ago at submission and nobody has claimed it using the new validation system to update the details. We've been mulling ideas on if/which of the details should be updated automatically. Currently the episode list and it's descriptions are updated, but the stuff from the old submission form remains the same. This is because just overwriting or removing the stuff folks put in by hand using the old system might not be a good idea.
I'll take this as your vote that at least category should be one of the ones for automatic updates.

Yeah, that would be my vote. They may have put themselves there because they didn't understand the definition of the category or to be more visible in a crowded field. In either case, in the long run it would make for a cleaner directory at PCA and the Spinnerscast easier to find if they were in the correct category.

Eric,
We were a video podcast when were first listed on Podcast Alley, and our first series of podcasts, were in fact- video based. However, because fewer people have video ipods, we switched to an all audio format.
We were not trying to "be more visible" in the illustrious video podcast category, but I do thank you for your concern.
I've since changed our listing and we are now in the Arts category.
Thanks!
Kim

Thanks for the clarification, Kim.
I'll be honest and tell you that when the voting went haywire a few days ago, I did a little digging among some of the show's that had an unexplained meteoric rise and briefly saw on a Harry Potter blog that there was an alleged campaign among some of the Harry Potter podcasts to make sure a Harry Potter-themed podcast got into the Top 10 of every category at PCA. Glad to see your group was above that kind of category manipulation.

PS -- Audio iPods may be more prevalent, but they're also hot items, and with things like AppleTV coming out soon, there's going to be a whole new avenue of vidcast consumption. If you guys ever entertain the notion of video again, you should look at www.DiDGU.com. A very cool site.
