The Failed Cities Monologues 22 - Truck

Truck's final appearance in the Failed Cities Monologues is now live on Variant Frequencies. "Since the podcast began, Truck has been one of the most popular characters in the Failed Cities. I just hope I've done him justice in the final act," says Matt Wallace, the Failed Cities author. "It's the ever-talented Ian Jones' last go 'round as my much loved knifeslingin' neo-hipster hotrod."

Ian gives the character his energy, putting you right there in the car with him for the ride of your life. We asked Ian for his take on Truck. "There is a side of Truck that is all black boots and bad-. . . and I hardly feel I did him justice there. But in the progression of his monologues, he reveals himself to be more than a hard-drivin', -kicking, take-no-prisoners, get-even street tough. He's out for justice, not revenge . . . and is a lot more human than I think he feels comfortable with. Truck is a survivor . . . struggling with monolithic obstacles (just like the co-ops that surround him), but surviving by constantly adapting to his environment and the faces of good, evil, oppression, greed and innocence he encounters.

In retrospect, I think not knowing where the story was headed, actually helped Truck's "revelation" come more naturally. I just wish I knew where he was headed next . . ."

So do we, Ian. So do we.

This podcast also introduces our new promo. We were blown away by the reading Ranger Bob (http://www.rangersound.com/) gave it.

Tonight?s the night. Truck?s sharpening his blade to a razor edge, and a chance meeting with the reluctant Detective Klimenko has provided the set-up for him to carve out the revenge he?s been chasing after at a 100 miles an hour . . .
