Hi everyone

I record our show with Garageband on a Macbook. I have behringer 802 mixer. Two Sennheiser E835 mics. What I want to do is to have each of us on a seprate track. Is this possible with my current equipment? If not what do I need to change and what would you suggest. Any help would be great.

You've given very little information but....

If there are only two channels coming in to the recording device (computer?) hard pan one left and the other right. Then you'll have two separate channels that you can do processing on after the fact.

Ok, what other information would you need. Would that help you with advising me on what to do?

First, are the two mics the only audio sources? If so, I think my previous suggestion will work fine. You'll have to break the stereo track into two mono ones, then do any processing you might want to, and finally mix them with whatever levels you'd like.

If you have more than just those mics, you don't have a lot of options using a stereo analog input (which is what I'm assuming you are doing with the MacBook). It only has two channels, so that's all you can use at one time.

You could over dub (recording into the Mac in multiple sessions, on different tracks), but that doesn't seem awfully convenient to me. I guess the good news is, if you are playing sounds and things on your mac, you should be able to route that to a separate channel in Garage Band, so you'd end up with three tracks instead of just two.

I think I'll stop for now and see what you think.

Brian.
