hello as you can see im new here and have a few qeustions. ok first is overall other than the mic i will buy i would like it to be a free project, so no cost thats what i am shooting for..i think that is reasonable but if not let me know. OK so what i am wondering is i want to record 2 voices at the same time talking to each other(doing an interview) and thats pretty much it for the podcast. I am very new to this and after looking around for a bit im guessing skype is the best option for this?? i went to the skype site though and i am not totaly sure its free, is it? also would the person i would be talking to(in a differant country) need to purchase a mic?? becuase i saw somthing about calling them to a normal phone?? if you can do it with a regular mic that would be fine. Basicly all i need to know is can i use skype for free for my application and if so would it be the best option? Also once recored(how ever i do that, im guessing with audicty), when i want to upload it, i am wondering is there a hosting site that is free that i can just easily upload it without FTP and all that?

Skype will do what you want for free. That is assuming that the other person with whom you are speaking also uses Skype. If not, they can get an account for free too. You only pay for Skype if you want to call regular phones, and/or you want a phone number that others can call you at your Skype account.

Audacity is a great program for recording and editing the audio files, but as far as I know, there is no way to record from Skype directly into Audacity. What operating system are you using (Linux/Mac/Windows)? That answer will be important to answering the question as to how to record a Skype call.

As far as hosting, I am not sure what is available. My podcast is done on the cheap, but not quite as cheap as free. I am willing to pay a whopping $6 a month for hosting. I have not looked into any free services.

Here is what I found by searching Google (http://www.google.com). I have no knowledge of any of these programs, therefore have no specific recommendations. If no one else pops in with specific info, you can at least research these.

Here is the search I did: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGGL%2CGGGL%3A2006-39%2CGGGL%3Aen&q=skype+record+windows&btnG=Search

Here are some of the solutions offered on the first page of the Google search:
Pamela. Free for recordings up to 15 minutes.
