I am subscribed to a couple of the You Tube feeds through my podcatcher Juice. I am having trouble getting them to play. I have VLC media player , which I thought is supposed to play most any kind of file, but I can't get it to play. I have Juice synched to Itunes, so most all of the feeds that I download go to the playlist in Itunes, but the You tube downloads doesn't. It saves ithe file in a folder under My Documents as the other feeds does as well. I can not get it to play from there either. It says it's a flash file.
By the way, is there any way to get this on your Ipod? I tried to add file to Itunes Library, but it would not recognize it. I know you can't download from the You Tube site, but I thought if you could subscribe to a feed, there might be someway to convert it to MPEG4 or such. Sorry for the lengthy submission.
Any ideas???
Thanks

Hi tider37. Since this is a general question rather than a Podcast Alley specific one, I've moved it to the appropriate forum. Hopefuly, other users will have the answer to your question here.

Videos from You Tube will not be able to play on the iPod without some conversion (at least as far as I know). They need to be converted to a video format that the iPod can play. I have no idea what that is.
As far as playing the files with VLC, I am not sure. But, you should be able to play the files in your browser.

Flash files do not play on iPod. The files YouTube supplies are not generally downloadable. There are websites that allow you to do so, but I've not tried them and have no idea how well they work. YouTube will not convert Flash files to MP4 and neither will iTunes or Juice. That is not their function.
Google video used to offer a downloadable .mp4 version of their Flash files, but I have no idea if they still do (what with the YouTube buyout and all).
The video formats iPod and iTunes support are .mov, .mp4 and .m4v. Within each of these formats there are additional requirements that these must meet (like total bitrate and appropriate screen dimensions). If they don't, then they won't be playable either.
If you have found a producer you like and they also have a website and/or blog that you can find the videos at, you are best off subscribing there (if you can). The subscriptions that YouTube provides are essentially there to send you a notice when a new show is posted, so that you can visit YouTube to watch it (and be exposed to their advertising).
Best of luck!

YouTube is flv file format
iPod support mov, m4v or mp4
For converting YouTube to iPod you can try free trial Flash To Video Encoder (http://www.geovid.com/Flash_To_Video_Encoder/).

I think "Free Download Manager" is very good for downloading and converting videos from youtube.
