Hey guys,
Santa brought me a new Alesis MultiMix 8 USB mixer for Christmas, but I'm having a frustrating time getting it to work with WindowsXP. The thing uses WinXP USB sound drivers.

And I can't use CastBlaster to record podcasts with it, because the program's internal mixer doesn't recognize the mixer's input as a microphone.

URK!

Any advice would be helpful, thanks in advance!

Not sure this is all that helpful but....

I'd just go analog and be done with it. I've read about driver difficulty and specific power up sequences to make sure the mixer is recognized, etc, etc. It all seems like a lot of hassle to me for an interface that just does a stereo out and a stereo in.

With a decent sound card you'll get VERY clean audio in and out of your computer when using the mixer's analog connections. Plus, you'll get more control over the computer to mixer audio using an analog channel than you will when using the USB as a mixer input.

Just my two cents.

Brian.
