hey sorry, I'll try to clear things up a bit, All I have so far is my radio show done on MP3 Thats it. On most sites that allows you to post your show as a podcast they ask for a URL link to the show. I dont know how to get a URL link for my show. I also dont know exactly what web hosting is. I went to make myself a RSS feed for my mp3 and it asked me for a URL to my show but if a URL is web hosting, I went to get a web host and it asked me for my RSS feed so its like I can't do one without already having the other you know what I mean?

Ok, here's the steps:

You need content. You've got that.

You don't have to have one, but a Blogging application or tool makes things easier. It sounds as if you might have that.

You need a place to put your mp3 files (that's called hosting, or "web hosting"). You need that. There are places out there that are low cost or free. Do your research and look at more than just one place!

I just want to go a little into hosting, without boring you to death. There are many different levels of hosting on the internet that serve many different purposes. When you use Blogger to set up a free blog, they are hosting your blog for you. When you make an account with YouTube and upload videos, they are hosting your videos. But in these two cases, there's a catch. They either offer limited space, limited features, or limited functionality. They will not work on their own for a podcast. That is why you need to find a company that offers more hosting options.

You should look for a web host that is low cost, does not charge for bandwidth and doesn't lock you into long term contracts. They should offer plenty of server space to host the files you expect to produce in a month, and provide site statistics. You want a host that will also work with the major blogging clients out there. There are services out there that are free (but stick ads on your work) or cost only a few dollars per month. The Ferf listed a couple in his post to you. All of them are worth checking out.

Once you have a server, you will be able to upload your files to a directory (folder) on the server, and then you will have your URL that your blog is asking for. A podcast url looks something like this: http://www.YourSite.com/YourPodcastDirectory/rss.xml*
* where "YourSite" and "YourPodcastDirectory" indicate whatever names you use for your domain (website) and your podcast's directory on the server, respectively.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

thanks, thinks are starting to make alot more sense to me! One more question, Do I need a web host first to make the RSS feed or a RSS feed before I can let a web page host my podcast? I tried to make an rss feed for my mp3 using feedforall and to create it, it asked me for the URL link So Then I went to a site that offered free hosting and to put my mp3 up so i can get the URL The web hosting page asked me for the RSS feed. So Its like I can't do one without already having the other. Do you see my problem here? Hopefully this makes sense and I can get just a little more help. Thanks!

First, let me answer the RSS question first. The simple answer is that you need a place to host your file BEFORE you build your RSS feed. The feed is a text file that contains information about your podcast, like the URL for the Mp3 file, the title, length, description and other things. Without your file being hosted on a website, or knowing where you're going to host it, you cannot make your RSS file.

Now, your problems with your hosting company may be a specific issue related to them. What site did you choose to host your Mp3 on? That makes a difference. Take PodShow, for example. They host for free, and since they cater specifically to podcasters, they also create the RSS Feed for you. Once you're registered, all you should have to do is follow their instructions to upload your file and set up your podcast page. I don't host my show with Podshow, so I cannot answer specific questions about their process (which is why, if you're having trouble, you need to post specific details so someone with firsthand knowledge can help you out :) ).

Now, speaking generally, if your hosting company is Podshow, or someone like them (for example), your confusion may be due to the fact that they also cater to podcasters who already have a podcast. Podshow needs to know what the address of the existing feed is, in order to find the podcasters prior shows (already hosted on the internet) so they can be migrated easily over to Podshow's servers.

Podshow is now something completely different and I can't find a single place to make a RSS Feed for my own Podcast. All I want to do is post it to iTunes but it says it needs the URL for the RSS Feed which I don't have, nor do I have any RSS Feed, you gotta help me??
