Hello

My latest podcast, podcast 6, isn't showing up on my iTunes Store page, bit annoying as when people link to my iTunes Store page all they see are the first 5 podcasts. iTunes has no problem downloading podcast 6 if you're already subscribed, it just isn't there to select on the menu of available shows. Anyone know how to fix this?

I'm unsure what pinging is or how it works and know little about RSS feeds so if you feel the issue lies here then an idiot proof follow-the-bouncing-ball approach would be appreciated.

However I did run my RSS URL though feed validator and it said:
Warning

This feed is valid, but may cause problems for some users. We recommend fixing these problems.
line 151 (http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwellmademusic.libsyn.co m%2Frss#l151), column 0: The recommended <itunes:email> element is missing

I'm unsure how to proceed from here.

My rss link, if it helps, is http://wellmademusic.libsyn.com/rss

My iTunes Music Store link, if it helps, is
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=192575332

Thank you

Thank you for the swift response.

I copied the link into my browser and got the following message:
No Podcast Found for Ping Request

I'm not sure what this means.

First off, did you add your podcast's feed address to where it says YOUR FEED ADDRESS HERE?

https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?feedURL=YOUR FEED ADDRESS HERE

Basically, the link is as it's shown above, but with the URL of your feed attached to it. A simple cut and paste of the code Theferf supplied won't work.

You should be entering this into your browser:
https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?feedURL=http://wellmademusic.libsyn.com/rss.xml

If this is indeed the link you registered with iTunes, then it should work. Once you ping iTunes, it may take several hours for iTunes to check your feed (they have nearly 90,000 podcasts in their directory).

I also recommend you use Triyo (http://www.triyo.com)to ping other services. You go to their site, enter your feed address into the search box, check the "TICK TO ADD/UPDATE & PING YOUR PODCAST!" check box and hit enter. It pings dozens of sites with one click!

Good luck!

Eric

Addendum: It appears that the URL you posted earlier for your feed is invalid with iTunes. You need to find your podcast in iTunes and right-click (or control-click if on a Mac) the picture of your podcast. You will be given the option to copy the URL of your podcast. Use that URL to ping the iTunes store.

I had one other question: Did you manually submit the link to iTunes, or did you rely on the LibSyn option to do that? Because if you did, you're not likely listed in the iTunes directory correctly, if you're listed at all.

The only way to make sure you are in iTunes -- I repeat, the only way! -- is to add your podcast yourself! The only method iTunes supports podcast additions to their directory is if it is directly submitted through the iTunes store! Libsyn should stop offering that option because about 90% of the time it doesn't work.

i subscribed to your show in itunes and this is the url it gave me:
http://www.wellmademusic.libsyn.com/rss

not this:
http://wellmademusic.libsyn.com/rss

nor this:
http://wellmademusic.libsyn.com/rss.xml

Its a small difference (the www and the .xml) but it matters. I pinged this URL and it worked great:

https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?feedURL=http://www.wellmademusic.libsyn.com/rss

Notice that there IS a www and their IS NOT a .xml on the end. When i tired pinging WITHOUT the www on it, it failed. Use the URL above in red to ping iTunes and you will be good. The changes will still take some time to show up, but at least you know it is working. :)
Yeah, I tried it couple of ways, both with and without the .xml. Didn't think to try with the "www."

I was sort of surprised that it didn't work with his Show ID though (which is what I was copying his music store link to get). Of course, pinging my music store ID doesn't work for me either, and I'm using the link they sent in the email.
