I claimed my feed, but the only thing I'm able to edit is the feed URL -- every other field is red and un-editable. This may be because my podcastalley account email address doesn't match the owner's -- I'm the producer, but the show host's email is listed in the owner field -- but since it let me claim the feed I can't undo that now (I can click "edit this feed," while the owner/host just sees "Already claimed" when he visits). Help!

Oh, yeah, the show: http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=25669

I actually see a red box that reads:

The Podcast Addressed you entered does not seem to be valid. Please check your URL and try again.

The thing is, that's wrong. I validated my feed on feedvalidator.org and it checked out. Everything's working fine on the Podcast Alley page also, I just wanted to go in and fix the weird characters that appeared in the show description when your site switched servers. I gather you're working on that problem anyway, so it's no big deal I guess. Since the description is a hold-over from when we submitted the feed to Podcast Alley (it has since changed), I guess PA isn't pulling that info from the RSS, but from what we submitted (which is another reason why I wanted to edit it).

I fixed the bit in our validator that might have caused your error, so please try it again. The message you recieved will be a little bit more verbose as well. If you get an error message, please post the text here (and thanks for doing that previously).

Warnings :
WARNING Channel has empty itunes:category tag. Assuming "General". To change this, claim and edit your feed after submission. (code: 6571)

Here's what I have in the RSS feed:

<itunes:category text="Comedy"/>

Is that wrong? Should it be: <itunes:category>text="Comedy"</itunes:category> ?

That would merely be bad wording on our part. We're in the process of updating our list of categories to match the ever-changing Apple list while allowing for non-Apple categories. The new wording for this error reads:

Channel has empty itunes:category tag or we currently don't have your chosen category in our list at Podcast Alley. Assuming "General". To change this, claim and edit your feed after submission. If that doesn't make any more sense, please let us know.

It's a little confusing, because the show is still correctly categorized on PodcastAlley as Comedy. Maybe the system just needs to ignore the <itunes:category> tag, or let the category info submitted to PA override it. In any case, I'm not worried about it -- like I said, I just thought I could edit the show description by claiming the feed, and got confused when I found I could not.

Uncovered another bug! Thanks. It's fixed now so your feed should validate no problem and choose the correct category. You can re-edit to get the gratification of a "perfect feed" validation message if you wish. If you set the category to "Comedy" previously there aren't any real changes to make, but you deserve the virtual pat on the back.

A question to follow on this...

I went to claim my feed yesterday, to find that another individual played a little prank on me and claimed my feed under his email address. Going to edit my details, again every other box is red and uneditable. I guess the basic question is, how can I get his email address off my feed?

Here's the link, if you need to see what Im talking about:

I appreciate your help!

You issue is a little more complicated because your feed doesn't contain any indication of an owner. Thus, I can't confirm it with my normal methods. If you can add an owner tag of some sort, post here so I can re-check, get you on your way and others can know how you did it.

If you can't or don't know how, PM (http://www.podcastalley.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=150041) me so I can offer or think of another solution.

Well, I wanted to use my feedburner feed, which does have an owner tag, so Im trying to edit it over to that feed instead. However, it looks like it wants to revert back to the original feed that got submitted. My feedburner feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com.locnetwork.

Methinks I am a bit over my head with the bits of code, to be honest. So yeah, if there's any help you can lend me here, I'd greatly appreciate it.
