View Full Version : Skype Problem

Although this is a Skype question, since so many knowledgeable people here use Skype, I am hoping that someone can help me. I posted a message on the Skype message board, but have gotten no response at this point.

I've got version 2.5.0.141 and apparently have a setting wrong. When I use Skype I hear myself speaking through Skype. I'd rather not hear myself at all because I am recording the conversation and record my own side with a digital recorder (later putting the two ends together). Worst is the fact that I hear myself a second after I speak, and I am absolutely blasting through the speakers to the point where I need to remove the headphones.

I'm guessing that there must be a setting somewhere that kills my voice coming back through Skype, but have not been able to find it. I did not have this problem with the previous version of Skype, so I am guessing that there is simply a switch somewhere that I am not aware of.

Can anyone please help with this? I really need to get this working for my podcast.

Cheers -

I would be surprised if this was a config setting.

X Add annoying echo

What would be the point?

Is there person at the other end listening on speakers (or leaky headphones)? That would cause an echo to be heard.

I'm not sure. Before doing the recording last night, I had this problem when I called myself to test it out. I've never had this problem before, as this happened after upgrading. This is why I am assuming that there must be a setting somewhere that is causing the problem.

are you using a headset?

It could be that the mute selction for microphone in windows sound properties got uncheck somewhere along the way, however, there wouldn't be that much of a delay, but you can check that and see if its the problem just to be safe.

I hope you get it figured out.
