I listen to, and watch, loads of Podcasts. Some are great... some are awful. Some I look forward to each new episode to appear. But there is no blue dot on my iTunes that gets me more excited than the one that occasionally appears next to my “KatsCast†subscription. KatsCast is a video Podcast produced by Katja Trijber from The Netherlands. I'm not sure I could tell you what it's about. I suppose it's about whatever Katja wants to share. But I CAN tell you that is is ALWAYS wonderful and will leave you with a smile on your face. If there are awards for videocasts... this one should sweep them.
Check her out on iTunes, or go straight to the source at http://katscast.podshow.com/ or http://www.katjatrijber.com/

PW I could not agree more, and how cool is this post! What's really cool is somoene in television producing a videocasts - Katja Rocks!
The whole reason I found out about Kats Cast was from a 'Dig Me', which I have to say is how I've discovered a lot of good shows at PodShow+.
Good stuff for sure!

This description fits most of the podcasts out there, and is what makes far too many of them excruciating to listen to after the first minute or two. It takes a pretty extraordinary individual to make "whatever they feel like talking about" at all interesting to anyone but themselves.
I'm not trying to impugn your taste or recommendation at all, P.W., in fact, your considerable experience is enough to overcome what I read as a completely pointless and uninteresting quality of the show you just described in the quoted text.
To the rest of you, putting into your description of the show "what ever we feel like talking about" is enough to keep me, and everybody I've tried to introduce to podcasting, away from ever checking out your show.

Thats because this is obvious Podshow promotion spam. I'm sure the Podshowers got a email telling them to push the show on the forums so I don't blame P-dub really and since alley is owned by podshow I can see it here, but P-dub copy pasted the same spam at the pickle as well.
If it had been an honest promotion for a new show I might have checked it out, but disquised as a "favorite" podcast post I'll make sure to avoid it now.

There will be several video specific categories for the next round of the Podcast Peer Awards. (March, 2007.)

Also add “We’re just a couple of craaaazy folks who like to have fun.â€
“The Best Drunk Podcast ever!â€
“The Most Outrageous Prank Calls You’ve ever heard!â€
Any description with an exclamation point after every sentence. And that goes double for multiple exclamation points at the end of one sentence. If they write that poorly, I doubt their show is going to be any good.
And I’m amazed at how many people say things like “this really isn’t very good.†Ok, then I’m not going to bother to try it.
If it had been an honest promotion for a new show I might have checked it out, but disquised as a "favorite" podcast post I'll make sure to avoid it now.
I have no doubt about P.W.s integrity. This is the first time he’s made a post like this, and there’s no reason to think his enthusiasm isn’t genuine.
I don’t share it, though. I tried to check out the show on podshow, and their player doesn’t work correctly. So I went to her site and watched episode 10. Well, part of it. I found it boring. I don’t want to watch someone set up their equipment, debate who is doing the interview, pause in the middle to get their kid an apple, etc. I found the story mildly interesting, but not engrossing. Or even interesting enough to finish.

Whew! I was worried we had some competition :P
Seriously, though, PDub's word is usually good enough for me to try something, so I think I may. In fairness to copy/pasting posts between two forums, I sometimes do that myself, in order to save on typing. But it's mostly in the show promotion forums and not in the other forums.

Episode 10 struck me as a little self-indulgent, but I didn't mind the equipment and set-up shots because that's some of what I'm into (it's my business). The quibbles I had were:
• Asking if we could see the difference of the Hi-Def camera versus the standard def one -- of course you can't! It's a highly compressed and lossy web video!
• The big no-no! There were no scrub bars on the web video player (QT version had a scrub bar)! A video producer shouldn't even think about not having those on any of her formats! For shame, Kat, for shame!
• That bloody baby giggle in the beginning, at the end and sometimes in the middle! I hate studio baby giggles! Why is that even there? The show's not about babies! Ugh! (that's Dutch for "Gag me with a Spoon").
So yeah, a mixed review. Not a great podcast, especially from a pro, but it's okay. I may check our more shows to see if it's usually better than ep. 10.

I definitely recommend checking out more than just the latest show. The latest show is not the best of the lot (although I still liked it) and it might have meant more to you if you had seen earlier shows first. I think that is a problem with most podcasts that have a back catalog. New listeners (viewers) tend to listen to them in reverse order, which negates anything that has developed over time.
Well it sure looks like I can't win here on the Alley. I write an enthusiastic post about a podcast I look forward to viewing, and someone steps up and claims that Podshow requested that I do that. Given that this person has absolutely no idea what the truth is in this matter, it's astounding what he CHOOSES to believe out of all possible explainations. Aparently, an opinion can be labled SPAM simply because I was the person expressing it.

I suppose that's true, especially given the *urp!* Vlog format of the video... But a good podcast (audio or video) should be able to be enjoyable as a self contained episode, even if it is also serialized. But we all have our "off" days and Kat did say she'd been working for six weeks straight, which will suck the juices out of anyone, so I'd give it another shot. I just have to get past that freaking fake baby giggle. Man, I hate that! :)

Did Podshow tell you to say that? That didn't sound like a sincere subscription. :)

I will give this a go. I mainly listen to podcasts while doing other stuff and my new nano isn't designed for video casts but I will give it a go.
P-Dub: Just ignore the accusations. The guy obviously does not like you and you can obviously do no right in his eyes.

Well, since you work for Adam, and Adam is Evil Incarnate, then everything you do must have an evil, evil motive.
And just as no one could play like Robert Johnson without selling their soul to the devil, no one can do a show as constantly great as Digital Flotsam without a similar arrangement. So that’s further proof you’re evil.
I’ll try one of the earlier episodes. After I take the dog for a walk. And figure out how to change javascript rollover vertical menus on one of my sites to CSS using .gif backgrounds so it’s easier to update. And doing a long promised bonus episode of my show. And patching the garage roof. But I will get to it, eventually.

And, PW, don't forget that Podshow exists to make money and, well, we all know that any company that tries to make a profit is doing it on the backs of the poor, "pure" podcasters who have their intergrity. I don't know how, but Podshow must be screwing us all out of something or other...um, yeah, that sounds right.

I thought it was d@mn cool to see someone plugging a show. It’s a nice contrast to those who spend so much time hating on others.
I'm not shocked though... I mean wtf!
