My player, Samsung YP-T7, died yesterday, after only a year of daily use. Now, I'm in mourning, and in search of a new player. It must have at least 512 MB, and include both voice and FM record. What should I get?

Right now, I'm forced to listen on my old SanDisk e130, which has no pause feature. If I stop a program, the player will restart from the beginning, forcing me to fast forward to where I left off. This is extremely annoying for long podcasts, such as FTL. (What idiot engineer thought THIS was a handy feature?)

I just bought the new ipod nano but that does not have the voice recording you are after.

My old Mp3 player sounds perfect for your needs. It is an Iriver T20:

http://www.iriver.com.au/iriver/index.cfm?pageID=2&sID=1&prodID=6&

It is available in 512 and 1 gig size. It will record your voice, can pause and will hold 512 or 1 gig. It has a little screen and is less than the size of a matchbox.

My main issue with it is the clunky software. Functional but a bit outdated.

I went for the ipod because I wanted to use itunes as a podcastcatcher and wanted to store my music. 8 gig gives me the room for that but I have to have a big mp3 player (physically) than the iriver.

In Australia the 1 gig irviver T20's are about $150 dollars Australian.

My guess is that you could probably pick them up for about $US 100.

Hope this helps.
