I'm back. Here's the problem. I'm using Audacity for Windows. I've BEEN using the Mac version, but my Mac is dead and I replaced it with a Windows laptop.

I have my Audacity sample rate set at 44100. Every track is displaying 44100. When I export, though, it produces a 24000-sample-rate file. Can anybody tell me why this is happening and what I need to do to get Audacity to produce a 44100 file like I want it to???

Thanks...I'm going completely nuts and I'm VERY grateful for the help!!

Dumb questions first.

You have checked the Edit/Preferences/Quality tab says 44100?
You have checked the Edit/Preferences/FileFormat/Uncompressed file format tab says WAV Microsoft 16-bit?

Given these are all the case, I'd suggest deleting / reinstalling Audacity with the latest release. What you're seeing isn't correct and it's way deeper into Audacity than i care to imagine.

Having read your earlier post, have you tried using iTunes to convert the WAV from Audacity into an MP3.

LAME is notorious for chipmunking flash players so I'd lay some blame at LAME (sorry, coundn't resist)

Try saving as WAV out of Audacity and then running the MP3 through the iTunes converter.

Having read your earlier post, have you tried using iTunes to convert the WAV from Audacity into an MP3. I agree. Simply right click on the WAV file and "Convert to MP3". Make sure in your iTunes preferences that you have it set to the bit and sample rate you want to use for your final MP3 file. Plus you can edit all your ID3 tags using iTunes and add the album art all at one time.

For the record, it's not LAME that's the problem, it's Audacity's lack of options. There are better LAME front-ends like RazorLAME (http://www.dors.de/razorlame/) that allow you to force the sample rate to what you specify, but Audacity doesn't support those options. Since I've switched to using RazorLAME, I've never had a problem once with chipmunking.
