I've been using Audacity for about 18 months without a problem, mostly on my PowerBook G4, which died completely. To do today's show, I used my wife's Sony VAIO (which used to be mine). I'm reasonably certain all my Audacity settings are the same, however the final MP3 file, when played in a Flash player, plays SLOW (not chipmunk speed, but the other way around). Can anybody tell me where I've gone wrong?

Sample rate: 44.1
Default sample format: 16 bit
Real-time sample rate converter: high-quality
High-quality sample rate converter:high-quality
Real-time dither: None
High-quality dither: Triangle
MP3 export bit rate: 64

You can hear the result at http://www.forimmediaterelease.biz, episode 177. Download it and play it in an MP3 player and it sounds fine, but in the Flash player on the page, it's S-L-O-O-O-W-W.

Thanks!

Looks like your recording is actually 48kHz, not 44.1. Although you have the settings set in Audacity, there are certain times where Audacity can't mix down to the desired levels, and it will try to get as close as it can. In this case, whatever you were doing couldn't be mixed down (maybe you had mulitple tracks at different sample rates?)

Whatever the reason, I always recommend QA'ing your finished product, and try to listen to it in iTunes (or similar) and a flash player if you can, prior to posting to your feed.

Thanks, Joe. This is very interesting, since I haven't done anything differently with episode 177 than I have with any preceding episodes. Recorded the same way, using the same elements. Only the use of the Windows machine is different. I appreciate the answer, though...
