Im sure there are many similar programs out there, but Desktop X from stardock makes a great soundcart solution for podcasting provided you have a second computer with no tech knolege needed and on the cheap. Last I checked its only $25 for the version that lets you make your own objects, and its as simple as a few clicks.
Anyway, you can make multiple buttons, of any size shape etc, and assign any sound to them almost effortlessly, sure there are other ways to do this but nothing makes it so easy, and lag free.
I just load up my sounds on buttons on puter #2 and feed it into my mixer. I can add new sounds, music etc in seconds and as a bonus, you get all the other nifty stuff that desktop x does (making your desktop look good).
