Oh yes and of course my favorite lady Madge Weinstein I will most def be chillin with her.

I assume that most of the after-hours stuff happens at the hotels...is that right? Kelli and I will be in on Thursday night, and this is our first Expo.
I have a possibly silly question for those of you who were there last year: is everything pretty open, or was it sort of "cilqueish"? I've always hated to go to gatherings where there is a core crowd who's in the know while everyone else is sort of lost. I don't imagine the Expo being like that because of its size, but I guess I could be wrong.
Maybe I'm thinking about this too much, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Matthew,
That is actually an excellent question, a lot of things can get clicky. I have been to a lot of expos in the past, broadcast, graphics, various industries, etc...and I have to say the portable media expo is the least clicky expo ever. Mainly because everyone is friendly and open to help and share ideas. It's very cool.
Things like the dawn and drew party and the yahoo party from last year made it socially easy to mingle outside the show floor, so I hope there are more events like this for this years expo. We're working on planning a Rumor Girls get together and hope you can come! Drop us an email at www.rumorgirls.com and we'll keep you posted. It's good also to email a few of the podcasts you know and make some informal meetups..networking socially is the best way to get into the groove of meeting more people..and you'll meet a lot!

You can always follow me around girl. You know that.
There certainly seems to be a lot of talk about gatherings all over the place. First one I know of is hanging out poolside all of Thursday night. Then there seems to be lots of random things happening here and there.
I'm hoping a bunch of people will swoop down on the Squire for breakfast with me on Friday morning. Good eats and a cool location. Plus, you can't eat In N Out for every meal there can you?

I've never had an in-N-out burger, but they must be orgasmic the way everyone talks about them. I'll have to have one while we're out there.

oh yes In-n-out burger is a california chain... and a very good one might I add.
Frank and I like Marie Calendars... great food, pies and drinks there.
The Expo was not clicky at all ... its really great to get to know everyone there.
I made lots of good friends there last year... and this year I am bringing my sis and we are double trouble..... :P

Last year Frank and Karla kept following me around. It was really awkward and I felt very uncomfortable.
I hope this year they'll make some other friends.
Creepy.

Sadly, I won't be making the expo this year, as I used all my vacation time up for some recent surgery. But I'm sure hoping to make the next one. Are any other podcasting conventions in the works? (I know there was one in Chapel Hill, NC, earlier this year...)

P.S. Hope you're enjoying that new TV, Patrick!

I'm kicking around the idea of leading a 12-mile, 1,600' day-hike to skinny-dip at some wild, natural hot springs in the nearby mountains on Sunday. You could be prepared for that, in case I manage to inspire enough interest.
Otherwise, most of the after-hours festivities will probably amount to the same-old boring, hanging around hotel rooms and getting falling-over-each-other drunk kinds of things. Most people know how to prepare for that. (But not as many know how to recover from it.)
Anyway, no matter what the activity or attraction, I'm looking forward to meeting (or meeting again) quite a number of you.

I'll be there and the rumors you've heard about a NLO/Big Show hug-a-thon are true. Buy your tickets now. 8)
There's a live show for Dr. Floyd happening at the Marriott on Friday night and there's another party happening down by the pool at the Marriott on Friday night.
Of course the main hang out will be the bar at the Marriott. See ya there!
